Most people think that having an active social life makes it impossible for them to keep a diet. It is true that going out to restaurants, drinking alcohol at parties or stuffing your belly wit you mother’s cakes every Sunday ca ruin all your “lose weight” program. Fortunately, there are still methods to keep a balance between your social life and a strict diet. You just have to be smart about it.
1. Take small sips
One of the biggest enemy for your goals can be found at the bar. Alcohol not only has a large number of calories, but a Saturday evening with too many drinks can ruin the best intentions on a Sunday morning. If the room turns around with you, you will definitely skip the gym the next day. It does not mean that you have to abstain completely, but if you go out with friends, try to limit yourself to a glass. If you want to drink some beers, follow the one-to-one rule: for each alcoholic drink, have a glass of water. This will help you stay on the normal morning schedule.
2. Plan your meals
Healthy eating is like “a piece of cake” when you have control over the meals. But not when you go to a party full of appetizing snacks. To stay on the right track without staying at home, prepare your eating plan in advance. Before you go, make sure you’re eating a healthy meal so that deviations from the diet, such as brie cheese and pizza, are less tempting. You can even bring your own healthy snacks, such as almonds or edema.
3. Rejuvenate the brunch snack
It seems hard to give up the ritual on Saturday morning with the gang. But there is no need either! You can change it to something healthier. Instead of jumping over the time with the gang that you love so much, replace that snack between meals with a healthier group activity such as yoga and green juice. Longer time to socialize and no blame.
4. Ask for smaller portions
Some restaurants tend to serve too much. Yet, the fear of Alfredo pasta should not prevent you from visiting that new Italian restaurant. When you go out to eat, you can reduce the damage by asking for smaller portions. If the restaurant does not offer this option, ask the waiter to put half of your meal to go, before bringing your plate to the table.
5. Schedule your morning gymnastics
We all had the best intentions to go to the gym just to be taken by surprise by a few extra work hours over the program. To avoid feeling guilty because you skipped your exercises, try to do them in the morning. This way, no matter how your day changes, you will be happy to keep your fitness routine.
6. Improve your travels
Until you book a beach vacation at an all-inclusive hotel where you can relax, drink all day and spend your money at the buffet, you’d better take a vacation that includes yoga, hiking, excursions or skiing. You will have more to gain.
These are just some simple steps to keep a diet and an active social life. Let us know if they work for you or if you have other suggestions about how to enjoy the small thing is life while having a healthy body. Thanks!
